Keeping the miles low
Shelly Wurtele – Kentucky, USA 2001 Dark Highland Green, #2609.
The only thing not original is a rear spoiler added at dealer at time of purchase. My parents Darrell and Brenda Evans purchased it new in Oct. 2001 at Cole Ford-Mercury in Winchester, Ky through a trade with Don Smith Ford in Greeneville, Tenn. At time of purchase it had 144 miles on odometer. As of Oct. 2019 it has 586 original miles. We have been a Mustang family for many years. My husband John, son Tyler and I currently own six Mustangs. After my parents purchased the Bullitt new in 2001, it was taken to a few "very" local car shows in their small hometown area and then kind of set aside as my Dad had many other Mustang interests. He was a stickler for low mile cars so he didn't drive the Mustangs he kept for himself very often. In 2009, my Dad was diagnosed with cancer, and sadly he passed away in 2010. My Mom hung on to his cars until Mother's Day of 2018 when the Bullitt was given to me as a gift. The Bullitt had 415 miles on the odometer. In August of 2019 it was driven to Somerset, Ky. for the Somernite's Cruise Mustang Alley. The Original '68 Bullitt Movie car was being displayed. We had to go. For this trip, a total of 173 additional miles were added to the car. As a tribute to my Dad and his low mile cars, I am keeping the miles as low as I can on this Bullitt. As of October, 2019, there is a total of 586 original miles on his 20 year old Bullitt.
