Tony Alonso, co-author of “Enthusiast + Engineer = Excitement – Building the 2001 Bullitt and 2003/04 Mach 1 Mustangs” (released in June 2018), presents a look at the evolution of 3 generations of Mustang Bullitt feature cars in a book that started shipping on June 30, 2020. Orders are being accepted for the Standard Edition. The Expanded Edition, thanks to enthusiastic response, sold out as of January 17, 2021!
This narrative explores what links these feature cars to the 1968 Mustang GT fastback from the movie Bullitt. There was a recipe used for the 2001 model that was revisited for the 2008-09 and now the 2019-20 models. Enthusiasts worldwide have responded to that recipe from the beginning, which is a big part of what makes these models desirable. Tony has been an automotive enthusiast since purchasing his first performance car in 1987. He has owned performance vehicles from a variety of manufacturers. Cover art design by Danny Whitfield. about the author
Tony is privileged to own all three Ford Mustang Bullitt models – a black 2001, a highland green 2009, and dark highland green 2019. His past Ford Mustang list includes a 1994 GT, 1996 SVT Cobra, 2000 GT, 2003 Mach 1, 2007 GT, 2010 GT, and 2015 GT.
Tony’s black ’01 Bullitt was purchased in 2008 from Scott Hoag, formerly of Team Mustang and the Customization Manager during the development of the 2001 model at Ford Motor Company, after Scott rebuilt (or “reloaded”) it, saving the car from the crusher. “Bullitt Reloaded” was profiled in two Muscle Mustangs and Fast Fords articles in 2007. Originally hailing from Summit, IL (a suburb of Chicago), Tony lives in Cincinnati, OH, USA with his wife, Shane. |
