Jessica Swanson – USA (OK) 2019 Dark Highland Green #K1170
No mods, purchased Oklahoma City, Oklahoma
My husband Jeff and I are both life-long Ford fans starting with his first car (a Mustang, of course), which started a trend of owning Fords over the years.
The first Ford my husband and I shared was a 2003 Thunderbird, but we had to part with the two-seater to make room for a growing family. Although we both dreamed of owning another Ford sports car, the goal was sidelined while raising our young children. We were reminded of this dream when my husband dusted off a 1967 Mustang fastback model car kit he had kept since childhood to assemble with our son. The passion for Mustangs has now passed to a third generation, and "Dark Highland Green" was the only color we considered when painting the model.
During my annual mammogram, ironically during October's "Breast Cancer Awareness Month", I was diagnosed with breast cancer, and we were told that a mastectomy would be required to remove all the cancer and related muscle. In effort to lift my spirits, my husband told me "If cancer is going to take away some of your muscle, the least I can do is give you some muscle back!" With this, he took me to see a beautiful, green 2019 Mustang Bullitt. As I switched into Sport Mode during a thrilling test drive, the Coyote's growl immediately took my mind off the pending surgery. We quickly agreed that life is too precious to not enjoy every minute, including a visceral daily driver that makes us smile - we bought it on the spot.
Following my mastectomy, I got the news that I was officially cancer free! Goodbye cancer, hello Ford Performance Racing School!
