the waiting game
Michelle Gillard-Cleland, Ontario Canada
It all starts with my father the mustang enthusiast and "Bullitt" being his favourite movie. So you would say I do not fall far from the tree. My first mustang I owned was 2011 5.0 that I custom ordered in January 2010. It would the return of the 5.0 which takes me back to the 80’s I just loved the sound of those cars back then and always pined for one.
When both my father and I heard that the Bullitt would be back to celebrate the 50th year we joked around that I would order one. Well that’s what I did on March 13th 2018 and started the waiting game. I also ordered personalized plates in advance of the car arriving MYJJZ109.
Each week I would ask the dealership for an update on the order. It didn’t take too long and I was given the VIN, then little updates until the build date of June 20th. While at work on July 18th I received a call from my sales rep at the dealership to tell me the BULLITT is here. It just happened to be that my father was at the dealership when it showed up. Nigel (sales rep) sent me pictures of the car on the car carrier and held the phone up to the exhaust so I could hear it start. I told Nigel as soon as it was on the ground he needed to tell me the number on the dashboard. He reads the number ...... K0010..... I said no way, say the number again.
I have always liked Mustangs but I really love my Bullitt. This car has sentimental value as just before my grandmother passed away she gave me some money to put towards the purchase of the car. She passed one month to the day prior of me picking up the car.
